William is the blue Guard of Order hero whose talent adds 5% to the defence of every Guard of Order hero you own, which makes him worth four stars in your first week and not much after.

  • Class: SUP
  • Faction: Guard of Order (Rider troops)
  • Rarity: blue (B)
  • Arrived: the base roster
  • In one line: the early faction-defence talent, until Elizabeth takes over

What William does in Last Z

William is a rifleman. Enhanced Bullets raises the damage of his normal attacks, and Explosive Grenade is his active, a grenade thrown in the direction you choose that damages everything in the blast. Both are blue-grade skills with blue-grade star steps.

His third skill is a base-economy Global Effect. His talent is the reason he matters: Faction Defense raises the defence of every Guard of Order hero by 5%. It unlocks at level 50 with four stars, and blue fragments arrive so fast that a new account can have it running within days.

So he’s a stepping stone with a real step on it. The 5% is permanent and faction-wide, Elizabeth’s purple version is 10%, and the two stack: an account that stars both carries +15% defence on every Guard of Order hero.

Is William worth it for F2P?

Yes, early, and only for the talent. He comes from the Club’s standard recruitment, which every account runs from the start, and blue fragments are the cheapest in the game. Four stars on William is a milestone a free player passes almost without trying, and the reward is a permanent +5% defence for the faction.

Past that, spend nothing on him. His skills are outclassed by every purple and orange hero in the faction.

William’s skills and stats

SkillTypeWhat it doesWhat each star adds
Enhanced BulletsNormal Attack BoostRaises the damage factor of his normal attacks. Grows with skill level.+30, +30, +30, then +40 and +70 to the damage factor
Explosive GrenadeActive SkillThrows grenades in the chosen direction, damaging enemies within the blast. The damage factor climbs with skill level.+60, +60, +60, +80, then +140 to the damage factor
Third skillGlobal EffectA base-economy bonus that grows with skill level.Small percentage steps per star
Faction DefenseExclusive TalentIncreases the hero DEF of the Guard of Order faction by 5%.The talent itself; no star steps

His attack, defence and troop size climb with his level, stars, skill levels and gear, so the live figures are on his hero card in your own game. As a blue hero he starts well below the purple and orange roster and caps lowest of all.

The upgrade order that gets the most out of him:

  1. Level him to 50 and get him to four stars. The talent is the whole plan.
  2. Nothing else. Skill books and cores belong to heroes who fight.

Best build and gear for William

Hero gear fills four slots: Gun, Helmet, Armor and Boots. Give William none. His talent doesn’t read his gear, and every piece he’d take is one a fighting hero doesn’t get.

How to get William fragments

William comes through Hero Recruitment Tickets at the Club, the standard pull. His stars take blue fragments, which the game pays out faster than any other kind, through recruitment, daily missions and event rewards. Four stars is the milestone, because that’s where Faction Defense unlocks, and it’s a target measured in days rather than weeks.

William’s best formation and faction pairing

His talent works from the barracks, and that’s where he belongs once your roster has five better Guard of Order heroes. Until then he fills a slot, and a Guard of Order squad still earns Evelyn’s per-hero bonus with him in it. The faction triangle applies to any squad he joins: Guard of Order beats Wings of Dawn, Wings of Dawn beats Blood Rose, and Blood Rose beats Guard of Order.

If he marches, keep the squad Guard of Order:

  • Athena, his blue opposite number, with the matching +5% faction attack talent.
  • Elizabeth and Leah, the purple pair whose talents stack on top of the blue ones.

William vs the alternatives at the same role

HeroFactionRarityWhat he’s for
WilliamGuard of Orderblue+5% defence to every Guard of Order hero
ElizabethGuard of Orderpurple+10% defence to every Guard of Order hero, and an immobilize
AthenaGuard of Orderblue+5% attack to every Guard of Order hero, plus electricity gathering
AudreyBlood RoseblueThe same +5% defence talent for Blood Rose

William and Elizabeth aren’t either-or. Both talents apply, so the account that stars both has +15% defence on the faction, and William’s half arrives first because his fragments are cheaper. Audrey and Angelina carry the same +5% defence talent for Blood Rose and Wings of Dawn.

Where he lands against the whole roster is on the tier list. For what to do with him in your first day, the beginner’s progression guide covers it.
