Last Z Hero Tier List: Every Hero Ranked and Why

Every Last Z: Survival Shooter hero ranked S, A or B with the reason, where the published lists disagree, and the free-to-play order.
Three Last Z: Survival Shooter heroes, one from each faction, standing on a rubble platform inside a survivor base Three Last Z: Survival Shooter heroes, one from each faction, standing on a rubble platform inside a survivor base

Last checked 6 October 2026, game version 1.250.728, in the Moonlit Elegy season. Nine heroes earn S: the three Season 4 carries, the three squad-bonus heroes, and Katrina, Sophia and Laura for the account skills every player levels whatever faction they run.

This ranking is built from what each hero’s skills and talent do in the game, hero by hero, and every rank below comes with the reason. The date at the top is the day the ranking was last checked against the game; it gets revised in place when a balance patch or a new season moves a hero.

The hero list in Last Z: Survival Shooter with faction icons and season tags

How this list ranks heroes

Three things decide a hero’s tier here, in this order.

  1. What the talent does, and for whom. A talent that changes the whole troop or the whole account outranks one that buffs the hero alone. The squad-bonus talents (+5% attack and defence per matching hero), the Season 4 faction-wide skill damage, and the account-wide troop-type damage talents are the strongest effects in the game.
  2. What the third skill does from the barracks. Katrina’s exploration bonus, Sophia’s construction speed, Laura’s radar events, Amelia’s research speed, Mia’s blueprints and Chinatsu’s duel points all work whether the hero marches or not. A hero can be worth level 30 without ever fighting.
  3. How hard she hits, and at what cost to get her. The Season 3 and 4 heroes start their skills at 2010 and 3200 against the launch roster’s 1500 and 2400. Free recruitment pulls beat battle-pass heroes for a player who isn’t spending.

A tier here means “build in this order”, not “this hero is useless below it”. A B-tier blue hero with a cheap +5% faction talent is a better first week than an S-tier pass hero you don’t own.

S tier: build these first

HeroFactionWhy she’s here
Yu ChanBlood RoseThe Blood Rose carry. Her skill-damage multiplier becomes faction-wide at four stars, and the troop gets +10% against Riders.
AmberGuard of OrderThe same design for Guard of Order: Carnage Feast shared with every Guard of Order hero in the troop, +10% against Shooters.
QueenieWings of DawnThe same design for Wings of Dawn: All-In Assault shared, +10% against Assaulters, a 3200 Firefall.
OliveiraBlood RoseThe squad bonus itself: +5% troop attack and defence per Blood Rose hero deployed, +10% capacity at five. Plus 70% Assaulter training speed from the barracks.
EvelynGuard of OrderThe same talent for Guard of Order, and 70% Rider training speed.
ScarlettWings of DawnThe same talent for Wings of Dawn, and 70% Shooter training speed.
KatrinaBlood RoseLevel her to 30 whatever you run: 100 free fuel a day and 50% more exploration EXP, account-wide. A DEF hero with attack skills on top.
SophiaBlood RoseConstruction speed +40% and 90 minutes of free build time, account-wide, from level 30. The largest construction bonus any hero gives.
LauraWings of Dawn20 free radar events a day and more EXP from each, account-wide, from level 30. A DEF hero with explosive arrows.

Why three base-roster heroes sit with the carries. As fighters, Katrina, Sophia and Laura are launch-grade: 1500 on normal attacks and 2400 on the active, the same as every other base hero. Their third skills are what earn the S. Every player gets those skills at level 30 whether or not the hero ever marches, and no other hero gives you fuel, construction time or radar events. Rank them as fighters alone and they’d be A; rank what they do for the whole account and they’re S.

A tier: build second, each for a specific job

The A heroes split into two groups that have nothing to do with each other. The orange season heroes are the second half of a full faction squad. The purple heroes are talents you star early and then mostly leave in the barracks.

Orange season heroes

HeroFactionWhy she’s here
SelenaBlood Rose+10% damage to every Assaulter unit, deployed or not. The talent is the prize; it waits at level 50 and four stars.
SakuraGuard of OrderThe same talent for Riders.
NyxWings of DawnThe same talent for Shooters, plus 45% Shooter defence for the troop she leads.
LiciaBlood RoseSeason 3 stats (2010 normal attacks) and 7.5% damage resistance for the troop, but only when Bella is in the squad.
DodomekiGuard of OrderThe same design, with Harleyna.
LilianaWings of DawnThe same design, with Alma, and a 3200 Abyss Blast.
BellaBlood Rose+10% troop HP, but only with five Blood Rose heroes deployed. Licia’s partner.
HarleynaGuard of OrderThe same talent for Guard of Order. Dodomeki’s partner.
AlmaWings of DawnThe same talent for Wings of Dawn. Liliana’s partner.
AmeliaWings of DawnResearch speed +40% and 90 minutes of free research time, account-wide, from level 30. The research twin of Sophia’s construction skill.
MiaGuard of Order500 free Modification Blueprints a day and 30% more vehicle EXP, account-wide. The Guard of Order defender.
ChinatsuGuard of OrderAlliance Duel points +35%, account-wide. The hero for an alliance that fights the duel.

Why the Season 2 and 3 heroes aren’t S. Their stats are S-grade: Licia, Liliana and Dodomeki start their normal attacks at 2010, and Liliana’s Abyss Blast hits 3200. Their talents are conditional. A Season 3 hero without her Season 2 partner in the squad has a talent that does nothing, and a Season 2 hero in a squad with one outsider has the same problem. Owned together and fielded together in a full faction squad, each pair is the strongest defensive layer that faction has; that’s the sentence a single letter can’t carry, and it’s why they’re A with the condition written beside them. Amelia is A rather than S for one reason: research matters to fewer accounts than construction does. Her skill is the same design as Sophia’s and is worth level 30 on every account.

Purple heroes: talents first, then the barracks

HeroFactionWhy she’s here
AvaBlood Rose+10% attack to every Blood Rose hero at four stars.
MirandaBlood Rose+10% defence to every Blood Rose hero at four stars, and a stun.
LeahGuard of Order+10% attack to every Guard of Order hero.
ElizabethGuard of Order+10% defence to every Guard of Order hero, and an immobilize.
FionaWings of Dawn+10% attack to every Wings of Dawn hero.
IsabellaWings of Dawn+10% defence to every Wings of Dawn hero, and an immobilize.
VivianBlood Rose30% more damage to creeps, fuel savings on every map fight, and a talent that lets several troops hit one creep. The map hero.
ChristinaWings of DawnShorter, cheaper attacks on neutral cities, formation-wide from the barracks. The siege hero.
MariaGuard of OrderTroop training speed for every troop type, up to 50%, and +5% troop capacity.

Purple fragments arrive fast, so four stars on a purple hero is a first-month target, and each of the six faction talents is a permanent bonus for every hero of that faction you’ll ever own. Vivian, Christina and Maria are the three purples with a job beyond their talent.

B tier: four stars and done

HeroFactionWhy she’s here
GiselleBlood RoseWood gathering +45% and production +30% from the barracks, and +5% attack to the faction.
AthenaGuard of OrderThe same design for electricity.
NatalieWings of DawnThe same design for food.
AudreyBlood Rose+5% defence to every Blood Rose hero. Nothing else worth books.
WilliamGuard of Order+5% defence to every Guard of Order hero.
AngelinaWings of Dawn+5% defence to every Wings of Dawn hero.

The blues are not fighters past the first week. They are six cheap, permanent bonuses: three gathering skills an account wants levelled whatever faction it runs, and three +5% faction defence talents that stack with the purple +10%. Blue fragments are the cheapest in the game, so every one of these is a four-star target measured in days.

The free-to-play order

A player who isn’t spending gets the roster in a different order from the one the tiers suggest, because the S-tier season heroes come through battle passes and the Season 4 recruitment tab, not the free pull. The order that pays fastest:

  1. Katrina, Sophia, Laura and Amelia to level 30. Four account skills, all from the base roster, all working from the barracks.
  2. Every purple and blue faction talent to four stars, starting with your main faction’s pair. Cheap fragments, permanent bonuses.
  3. Vivian to five stars if you live on the map, Mia and Chinatsu to 30 if the vehicle and the duel matter to your alliance.
  4. The season heroes as their passes rotate round. The squad-bonus hero for your faction first, then the troop-damage talent, then the pairs.
  5. The Season 4 carry for your faction through the Season 4 recruitment tab, which runs on tickets from Glory Wars and seasonal rewards.

Quick picks by faction

  • Blood Rose: Oliveira, Yu Chan, Katrina, Selena, and Bella with Licia for the full five. Faction talents from Ava and Miranda.
  • Guard of Order: Evelyn, Amber, Mia, Sakura, and Harleyna with Dodomeki. Faction talents from Leah and Elizabeth.
  • Wings of Dawn: Scarlett, Queenie, Laura, Nyx, and Alma with Liliana. Faction talents from Fiona and Isabella.

The faction triangle runs Wings of Dawn over Blood Rose, Blood Rose over Guard of Order, Guard of Order over Wings of Dawn, and each Season 4 carry’s talent sharpens the leg her faction already wins.

When this list changes

A balance patch, a new season hero, or a change to a talent’s text moves heroes on this page, and the date at the top moves with it. The ranking is checked against the game at the start of each season and after any patch that touches hero skills. For what to do with your first heroes before any of this matters, the beginner’s progression guide covers it, and the diamond guide covers what to save for before you buy fragments.
