Nyx’s talent gives every Shooter unit you own +10% damage whether she’s deployed or not, and her marching skill adds 45% to the defence of the Shooters she leads, which makes her the first Wings of Dawn hero to star for any account that trains Shooters.
- Class: DPS
- Faction: Wings of Dawn (Shooter troops)
- Rarity: orange (S)
- Arrived: Season 1, as a season hero
- In one line: an attacker with self-destructing puppets whose talent buffs every Shooter, deployed or not
Skill numbers on this page are the level 30 values, which is the cap, read from the game in the Dinosaur Origin season (Season 4 where Desert counts, Season 3 where it doesn’t).

What Nyx does in Last Z
Nyx fights with witchcraft and dolls. Witchcraft Attack raises the damage of her normal attacks to a damage factor of 1500 at the cap. Spirit Doll is her active: four self-destructing puppets that track and attack enemies at damage factor 2400, and her stars add a fifth and then a sixth puppet. Mind Control raises the defence of the Shooters in the troop she leads by 45% at the cap, and it’s the one skill on her card that only works while she’s marching.
The reason to own her is the talent. Potential Unleashed raises the damage of all Shooter units by 10%, and the text is explicit: regardless of whether Nyx is deployed. It’s the Wings of Dawn copy of Selena’s Assaulter talent and Sakura’s Rider one, and for a Shooter account it’s the same permanent 10% on every march.
So she’s either the attacker who leads your Shooter squad with 45% more defence for the troop, or the account skill in the barracks that makes every Shooter hit harder. Most players end up with both.
Nyx’s skills and stats
| Skill | Type | Unlocks at | What it does at level 30 | What each star adds |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Witchcraft Attack | Normal Attack Boost | hero level 1 | Increases normal attacks’ damage factor to 1500. | +90, +90, +90, then +120 and +210 to the damage factor |
| Spirit Doll | Active Skill | hero level 20 | Controls 4 self-destructing puppets that track and attack enemies, at damage factor 2400. | +150 damage factor, puppet +1, +150 damage factor, puppet +2, then +300 damage factor |
| Mind Control | Active upon marching | hero level 30 | Defence of the Shooters in the troop she leads +45%. Applies only while she’s deployed. | Shooter ATK +5%, +5%, +10%, +10%, then +15% |
| Potential Unleashed | Exclusive Talent | hero level 50 and 4 stars | Regardless of whether Nyx is deployed, all Shooter units’ damage increases by 10%. | The talent itself; no star steps |
Her attack, defence and troop size climb with her level, stars, skill levels and gear, so the live figures are on her hero card in your own game. As an orange hero she starts well above a purple one and caps higher.
The upgrade order that gets the most out of her:
- Level her to 50 and get her to four stars. The talent is the prize, and it needs both.
- Mind Control next, if she leads a squad. 45% Shooter defence at the cap, and its stars are flat Shooter attack on top.
- Spirit Doll, then Witchcraft Attack. Her own damage.
Is Nyx worth it for F2P?
Yes, with the two caveats every season hero carries. The talent sits behind hero level 50 and four stars, which is a real fragment bill, and she comes through a battle pass rather than the free pool. For a Wings of Dawn account, both are worth paying: +10% Shooter damage applies to every march, rally and defence you’ll ever run, and nothing else in the faction gives it to you. If her pass isn’t round yet, build the squad without her and let her talent be the upgrade when she arrives.
Nyx’s best formation and faction pairing
A formation carries five heroes and their troops, and Wings of Dawn heroes field Shooters. Nyx’s talent already pays from the barracks; what she adds by marching is her own damage, the puppets, and Mind Control’s 45% defence for the Shooters she leads, which is the biggest marching bonus in the faction.
Keep the squad Wings of Dawn for the rest: Scarlett’s talent gives the troop +5% attack and defence for every Wings of Dawn hero deployed and +10% capacity at five, and Alma’s gives +10% troop HP at five. The faction triangle applies: Wings of Dawn beats Blood Rose, Blood Rose beats Guard of Order, and Guard of Order beats Wings of Dawn.
Who to put beside her, keeping the squad Wings of Dawn:
- Scarlett first, for the squad bonus.
- Laura as the defender.
- Amelia or Queenie for damage.
- Alma for the fifth slot if you have her, for the troop HP at five.
How to get Nyx fragments
Nyx is a season hero, and the sources that track her agree she comes through the Warrior Battle Pass and the shop’s rotating offers rather than the free recruitment pool.
Once she’s unlocked, the orange fragments the game pays out on a schedule are what you’ll feed her, and she needs more than most because her talent waits at four stars. Most orange fragments are universal and work on any S hero; a few are tied to one hero, so check the item before you count on it.
- Daily Tasks. 150 points on the Daily Tasks page pays one orange fragment.
- Full Preparedness. 18 medals trade for two orange fragments.
- Gold Trucks. Sending and looting them is the steady source most players overlook.
- Weekly gifts. Six orange fragments a week, claimed, not earned.
- The Z Points store sells S fragments five at a time for diamonds. The diamond guide covers whether that’s a good use of them.
- VIP 10 adds daily orange fragments, a route for spenders rather than a plan.
Best build and gear for Nyx
Hero gear fills four slots: Gun, Helmet, Armor and Boots. The Gun boosts attack, the Helmet attack and defence, Armor defence and troop HP, and Boots a mix of all three. Gear levels up with enhancement alloys and promotes with power cores.
If she’s in the barracks for the talent, give her none. If she fights, build her as the attacker she is: Gun first, Helmet second, then Boots, Armor last. The puppets do the crowd work; her own stats decide how hard the rest of her hits.
Nyx vs the alternatives at the same role
| Hero | Faction | Rarity | What she’s for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nyx | Wings of Dawn | orange | +10% damage to every Shooter unit, deployed or not |
| Selena | Blood Rose | orange | The same talent for Assaulter units |
| Sakura | Guard of Order | orange | The same talent for Rider units |
One design in three factions: an attacker whose talent buffs her faction’s troop type across the whole account. Which one you want is which troops you train, and for Shooters that’s Nyx. Inside Wings of Dawn, Scarlett makes the squad stronger by standing in it; Nyx makes the Shooters stronger by existing. Run both and the troop collects every bonus the faction has.
Where she lands against the whole roster is on the tier list. For what to do with her in your first day, the beginner’s progression guide covers it.
